State Credit Reporting Laws Fastfax #1255

Feb 27, 2012

The FCRA provides a federal law covering the activities of consumer reporting agencies, users of consumer reports and data furnishers. However, numerous state credit reporting laws also affect the activities of such parties. Although the FCRA provides explicit provisions which provide for federal preemption of several subjects of state law, some state laws may provide greater protection for consumers, and as thus, may not be preempted by the FCRA.
